TAP Certificate in Assessing TAP Delivery

Delegates must agree to the Code of Practice for TAP Certified Training Delivery Assessors.

This course gives organisations the opportunity to objectively assess training delivery skills from style, structure and balance perspectives, based upon the TAP methodologies.

In-between Parts A and B delegates will complete three 'live' practice assessments

Who is it for?
The course is designed for L&D Professionals who have been designated to carry out regular assessment of in-house or external trainers as part of their own internal quality assurance procedures.

Pre-Requisites

Delegates are required to hold a TAP Certificate in Training Delivery Part A issued within the last three years.

The Organisation must employ a minimum of six L&D personnel holding valid TAP Certification or have made a commitment to a TAP Certification by way of booking relevant under-pinning TAP Certificate.

Course Content

Session 1: Introduction to assessing
In this session, we consider:

  • The benefits to the organisation, the assessor and the assessee
  • What to do before, during and after the assessment

Session 2: Assessing the activity profile
In this session, we will:

  • Review the seven activities reflected on the Activity Profile
  • Complete a paper exercise
  • Share hints and tips
  • Practise marking the Activity Profile in sections from a recorded session
  • Discuss scores

Session 3: Assessing training delivery style
In this session, we will:

  • Review the 14 categories on the Style Profile from an assessor’s perspective
  • Share hints and tips
  • Practise assessing the training delivery style against the profile from a recorded session
  • Discuss scores

Session 4: Assessing question techniques
In this session, we will:

  • Review the three trainer-led question techniques
  • Review the two delegate-led question techniques
  • Review other ways to handle learner questions
  • Share hints and tips
  • Practise assessing the question techniques employed during a recorded session

Session 5: Assessing training session structure
In this session, we will

  • Review the 15 categories on the Structure Profile from an assessor’s perspective
  • Share hints and tips
  • Practise assessing the structure of a training session against the profile from a recording
  • Discuss scores

Session 6: Assessing objectives
In this session, we will

  • Review the three elements of an objective from an assessor’s perspective
  • Critique objectives
  • Practise coaching a trainer to write a valid objective

Session 7: Giving feedback to assessed trainers
In this session, we consider:

  • The five-step feedback process
  • A four-stage development plan
  • Practise giving feedback to an assessed trainer

Exams & Certification

Assess a recorded training session so that the Structure, Style and Activity Profiles have variations in no more than two categories/activities per profile from TAP Learning results.

In between parts A and B delegates will complete three ‘live’ practice assessments in their workplace to meet the assessing guidelines.
