BCS Foundation and Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing

This course provides comprehensive training for anyone involved in software testing, including test analysts and test managers looking for highly practical knowledge and techniques. It is a combination of lectures, workshops, exercises and sample exam questions. Delegates will leave with testing knowledge, skills and techniques which can be applied in the workplace.

The Foundation material is accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), and follows the syllabus specified by the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB). It culminates in a one-hour multiple choice examination for the ISTQB Certified Tester - Foundation Level, a globally recognised qualification.

The Intermediate material is also accredited by the BCS, and culminates in a one-hour multiple choice examination for BCS Intermediate Certificate.

Both exams are taken on the last day of the course.

Target Audience:

Those who intend to sit the examination at the end of the course will benefit from pre-reading the ISTQB Foundation Level Syllabus and a standard text on the subject from the ISEB book list.
  • Passing the ISTQB Foundation exam is a pre-requisite for the BCS Intermediate Certificate. If a candidate takes both the Foundation and the Intermediate but fails the Foundation Level, ISEB will withhold the Intermediate results until they pass the Foundation exam (they have 3 months to achieve that).

If you are taking a BCS exam you must bring photographic identification with you (passport, driving license or student card), as it is a BCS requirement to produce it for the invigilator prior to the exam. Failure to produce a valid form of photographic identification will result in a candidate not being able to sit the exam.

BCS allow additional time for candidates who have a disability or whose native language differs to that of the examination paper.  Full details are provided in the BCS Reasonable Adjustments Policy which is available to view on the BCS website. If you believe you qualify for this then please notify us as early as possible.  At least two weeks' notice will be required for processing this request.  Delegates failing to advise us and provide evidence when requested, may not be allowed the additional support offered via the BCS policy.
