Python Programming Basics - Evening Course

This course covers the Python Basics.
This Python programming course is for delegates without prior programming experience.
It is run in the evenings after work, so you do not have to take time off from work.
6 lessons, the first of which shows as the booking date.
1 lesson of 2 hours per week for 6 weeks, 6pm- 8pm.

Python is a language with a simple syntax and a powerful set of libraries. While it is easy for beginner programmers to learn, Python is widely used in many scientific areas for data exploration. We cover data types, control flow, object-oriented programming, and graphical user interface-driven applications. We offer the course in practical style, with many Python coding examples and problems drawn from diverse areas such as text processing, price calculations and password verifications.

Course Content

Lesson 1: Data Types, Variables, and Arrays:

Primitive types; Characters & Strings; Boolean; Working with variables and its scope; Type conversion and casting.

Operators and Expressions:

Introduction of operators; Arithmetic operators; Relational operators; Assignment operator; Logical operators; Increment and decrement operators; More in operators.

Decision Making:

If statement; If - else statement; If- elif - else statement; Nested if - else;

Lesson 2: Using Loops:

The while, while-else; do-while and the for loop; Enhanced for loop; Jump statements: break, continue; Nesting loops.

Data Structures:

Lists. Tuples. Dictionary.

Lesson 3:

Exception Handling: Fundamentals of exception handling; Exception types; Using try and except.
Files, streams: Create, Open, Traverse and Read Files: Csv, txt and Json Files.

Lesson 4: Database:

Connect to a database, create Database, drop a database, create a table, alter tables, drop a table, insert, delete, update records, query a database and display results.

Lesson 4 and 5: Built-in and Custom Functions



Creating and using Functions.
Returning value from a Function; Function parameters;

Introduction to Classes and Objects:

Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
Creating a Class;
Creating a Module in class;
Creating an Object; Using an Object and it's modules; Adding Instance variables; Controlling accessibility; Naming conventions for class members. Class Constructors; Parameterized Constructors; Inheritance. Override.

Lesson 6:

Math Functions. Random Functions.
Date Functions.
String Functions.
Regex and Pattern Matching.
