Working Globally Inter-Cultural Communications

Globalisation will affect most of us at some time in our careers and although it is often exciting to conduct business with other nationalities, the potential for embarrassment, misunderstanding or taking offence is increased. The aim of this workshop is to help participants reduce the likelihood of these negatives happening by showing how to become more aware of other cultures perceptions and behavioural norms in order to create rapport quickly.

  • Understanding how cultures communicate differently and how to enhance work and business effectiveness by developing competence at cross-cultural communication
  • Identifying major differences in communication style, techniques, and cultural comfort zones around flow, pace and intensity. Informal conversation, small talk, non-verbal communication and, slang and humor across cultures
  • Understand differences in formal presentations, telephone manner and written communication styles
  • Identify strategies and techniques for communicating successfully across cultures
