This Virtual training event will be delivered via Zoom.

What is Zoom?
Zoom is cloud-based video conferencing software that will allow you to see both your Skilltec Trainer and fellow attendees in the Virtual Classroom, almost as if you were right there in person!
It’s easy to install/access, free to use, and you don’t even need to set up an account.

What you will need

  • A PC or laptop with relevant software installed (1)
  • AND
  • A second screen or
  • A tablet or
  • Another PC/laptop or
  • A smart phone (2)

If you are using a PC or laptop from your workplace, you may not be able to install the Zoom software, in which case, you just need to run a test meeting via your browser. Please see below.
If you are using a tablet or phone, you will need to be able to access the PlayStore (Android) or AppStore (Apple).

Why do I need two devices?
Whilst it is possible to access your course using just your PC or laptop, you may find it tricky to switch between your working area and the Trainer’s display, so we strongly recommend that you set up a second device for the best learning experience.

What if I have a problem during the course?
The Zoom software allows users to share the content of their screen with the Trainer so if you have a problem and you’d like the Trainer to take a look for you, they can! It’s super easy and we will talk you through this process if needed.

(1) Please note that some elements of your software may differ if you are using a MAC computer.
(2) We only recommend the use of a smartphone as your second device if absolutely necessary; because of the screen-size, it may be necessary to zoom in to be able to see any information shared with you by the Trainer.

How do I communicate with the Trainer?

If you have a microphone on any of your devices, you simply need to speak up as you would in the classroom and the Trainer will hear you.

If you don’t have a microphone, there is a chat facility within Zoom that allows you to raise your virtual hand, and the Trainer will know that you have a question.

I’m using a PC or laptop from my workplace and I’m not able/allowed to download Zoom
If you are using PC or laptop from your workplace, you may not have the administration rights to install the Zoom software; if you do, please be sure to seek permission before proceeding.

If you are unable to install Zoom onto your PC or laptop, you will be joining us via link on the day and we recommend that you run a test meeting prior to the course so you can see how this will work.
