Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Implementation

This course is intended for experienced Cisco Server Administrators, Network and/or Systems Engineers involved in the deployment of Cisco Unified Computing System Solutions.

This course is also one of the requirements for Channel Partners looking for accreditation for the Cisco UCS ATP Program


Learning Objectives

 After you complete this course you will be able to:

    * Explain how Cisco UCS addresses key problems in Data Center server environments
    * Describe the Cisco UCS system architecture,
    * Identify UCS hardware components, and options
    * Perform the key operational tasks required to deploy a Cisco Unified Computing System
    * Explain the connectivity requirements for the Cisco UCS platform
    * Configure Physical and logical Unified Fabric Connectivity
    * Describe the Cisco UCS Manager
    * Define and implement the Basic Opt-In and Logical Server Management Models
    * Configure a system-level fault tolerance
    * Implement a multi-tenant management model using Role-Based Access Control
    * Perform System upgrades
    * Back up and Restore system configurations
    * Monitor system events and use the built in troubleshooting tools
    * Identify common deployment scenarios for Cisco UCS
    * Explain how the Cisco Nexus 1000V switch fits in to a VMware server virtualization environment


Attendees should meet the following prerequisites:

    * Valid Cisco CCNA®
    * Expertise with Cisco Nexus switches (DCNI-2 recommended)
    * Familiarity with SAN concepts and Cisco MDS 9000 switches (ICSNS and IASNS recommended)
    * VMware Certified Professional (VCP 3 or 4) - (VSICM or VSFT recommended)

Course Content

This five-day hands-on course focuses on the deployment and operation of a Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS).Delegates will learn how to configure and manage Cisco UCS servers with consolidated I/O networking for LAN and SAN connectivity,how to virtualize server properties to enable simple and rapid mobility of server operating system images between physical servers.

Hands-on labs enable delegates to gain experience in configuring fault tolerance, implementing a multi-tenant management model, backing up and restoring system configurations, and how tomake the most of the monitoring and troubleshooting tools built intoCisco UCS Manager.
