Association for Project Management (APM) – Salary and Market Trends Survey 2017

The Association for Project Management (APM) has published its new annual Salary and Market Trends Survey for 2017.

With nearly 6,000 participants, the report is one of the largest in the project management profession detailing lots of useful information about salaries and the market – the report highlights:

  • The average (median) salary for respondents is £47,500 (down £2,500 on 2016)
  • Salaries range from £55,500 in London to £42,500 in North East, Wales and Northern Ireland
  • Salaries almost mirror age: 18-24 is £27,500; 25-34 is £37,500; 35-44 is £47,500 and 44-54 is £47,500
  • Women earn approximately 30 per cent less than men; a figure consistent with last year
  • The average day rate for Contractors is £450
  • Although 80% are satisfied with their role, 27% said it was likely they would change employer in the next 12 months
  • 47% of respondents expect their organisation to grow and recruit additional staff
  • 67% of respondents anticipate a salary increase in the next 12 months
