APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) Exam Preparation Workshop

Please note that this certification has recently been re-named APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) by the accreditation body (APM). It was formerly known as the APMP: The APM Project Management Qualification. It is a simple rebrand and the assessment criteria, learning outcomes and training models remain unchanged.

The attainment of accreditations offered by professional bodies such as the Association for Project Management (APM) is increasingly seen as a recognised indicator of competence in project management. APM qualifications are aligned to the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Four-Level-Certification system, where the APMP: The APM Project Management Qualification is recognised at IPMA Level D.

This workshop provides delegates who have already acquired a solid understanding and practical experience of project management with a rapid route to the APMP: The APM Project Management Qualification examination (based on the APM Body of Knowledge, 6th Edition).

This course is intended for project managers and aspiring project managers with at least two years project experience.

Delegates should have experience of working in a project environment and have a basic understanding of project management issues.

It is expected that delegates have undertaken a suitable form of preparation for the APMP (eg. The Project Management Qualification - The APM Project Management Qualification eLearning) before attending this course.

Course Content

The APM Project Management Qualification Preparation Workshop is designed to prepare delegates for the APMP exam. As such it is flexible in structure and focus, being driven in part by the needs of the delegates. Whilst there will be planned sessions that address specific aspects, such as exam techniques and exam practice, there will also be the opportunity for delegates to select topics to cover.

The course is intensive and therefore delegates are expected to undertake revision work in the evening to prepare for the examination that will be taken on the second day. The additional work required during evenings will comprise consolidation reading and mock examination questions. The evening work is integral to the course and delegates should expect to spend two to three hours on these activities.

Exams & Certification

The APM Project Management Qualification Examination

Examination practice and feedback is included in the workshop. The APMP examination is normally scheduled for 13:00 on the second day of the course.

Key exam information:

  • Three hours duration
  • Closed-book
  • Ten essay-based questions to be selected from a total of 16. Each is worth 50 marks
  • Candidates are required to achieve a minimum of 275 marks out of 500 (55%) to pass

Please note: delegates must bring photographic identification with them on the exam day (e.g. passport, driving license, company secure access card, student card) as it is an examination requirement to present it to the invigilator prior to the exam. Failure to produce a valid form of photographic identification may result in a candidate not being able to sit the exams.

By successfully passing the APMP examination candidates can choose to further develop their knowledge and understanding by preparing for the APMPQ Assessment Centre (IPMA Level C).

There is no pre-course reading for this course. Delegates are expected to have already undertaken preparation as described in the Prerequisites above.
