Children Enjoy Local Environmental Centre thanks to FOCUS
Cambridge Environmental Education Service runs centres which provide inspirational learning experiences for children. Local schools in less affluent areas do not visit due to cost constraints. Project Management and IT training specialist FOCUS on TRAINING has come to the rescue.

A bursary from a Peterborough company has again given children from local schools the opportunity to spend three days at an environmental education centre.
Pupils from St John’s primary school in Peterborough spent three days at Stibbington Centre, thanks to the bursary from Werrington based Focus On Training.
Stibbington Centre uses specialist resources and locations which bring learning to life. Imaginatively designed play and study areas provide a ‘hands-on’ learning experience that increases environmental understanding in a way not possible in the conventional classroom. These are backed by study locations including rivers and streams, nature reserves and farms.
Focus Managing Director Steve Twine explains, “Stibbington provides a memorable experience, totally different to the conventional classroom. We believe it makes a real difference to children’s lives.”
Stibbington head Rosie Edwards says, “Our residential courses help develop social skills and independence, encourage sustainable lifestyle choices, and also fulfill curriculum requirements in geography, science and history.”
Stibbington Centre would be delighted to hear from other companies interested in sponsoring residential courses for those who would not otherwise be able to visit.
