Marija Lysak of Budworth Hardcastle presents the Olympus House keys to Focus MD, Steve Twine

Leading Project Management Training Company – Based in Peterborough
2007 was another record year for Focus.  It arranged accredited training for over 1,500 project management professionals across the country.  It launched regular PRINCE2 training in Peterborough at the Marriott.  It extended its range of courses into IT Service Management. And to accommodate its continuing growth the business has re-located to larger premises at Werrington, Peterborough.

Rapid Growth
Focus Project Management was founded in 2001 by Steve Twine.  Steve has hands on experience of successful implementation of major international projects in the motor industry and was initially intent on delivering training himself.  Faced with huge demand, the business now networks with many of the leading accredited trainers across the country  - and maintains a strong web presence.  The Focus website
www.focus-on-training.co.uk receives 10,000 visitors each month.

Steve Twine explains the reasons for success: “We have always specialised in areas where we have a depth of knowledge and can provide meaningful advice on personal and company skills development.  Our training is consistently rated excellent by delegates.  And we offer the widest range of dates and locations for many Best Practice courses.“

Best Practice Training
Over recent years more and more organisations have turned their attention to effective project and service delivery.

The benefits and payback for a new product launch can evaporate if deadlines are missed or major risk factors are  ignored.

Expensive organisational change projects can sap cash, energy and morale if methods are not used which transcend functional boundaries.

Customer satisfaction levels can plummet if response times and other service level commitments are not met.

Fortunately there has been growing consensus on how major projects and programmes should be structured.  This has resulted in a number of Best Practice methodologies which enable anyone to quickly adopt (and adapt) the approaches commonly used by the world’s most successful organisations.  In the area of Project Management the most commonly known methodology is PRINCE2 – and for IT Service Management it is ITIL.

An additional driver for many companies is that their customers will increasingly dictate that these disciplines are in place.

Focus in Peterborough
Previously based in Market Deeping, Focus has moved to Peterborough in January 2008, and is actively recruiting to cope with growing demand for its courses.  “Focus on Training“ has been adopted as the new trading name to more clearly reflect its growing range of courses.

Focus also delivers on-site training for organisations.  Steve Twine explains: “Our starting point is always to understand an organisation’s current level of competency and compare that with the skills necessary to achieve its objectives.  We have assessment tools which can benchmark capability. Company specific training can allow tailoring to suit specific needs and typically there are financial savings if there are 6 or more delegates.“
