Survey Shows Focus Saves You Over 20% on Training Courses
Focus wanted to know how its pricing compared with that of other training providers.
That's not as easy as it sounds since price differences vary considerably from course to course. Moreover, you need to take care to ensure comparisons are on a like for like basis: some trainers will not include exams even on certifed courses. The answer was to create a "shopping basket" of typical courses in just the same way as the government does to measure inflation.
Two such baskets were created - one for best practice Project Management and IT Service Management courses such as PRINCE and ITIL. A second concentrated only on IT technical training. Focus prices were compared with the list prices of a leading training provider. The Focus prices were their standard everyday pricing: late availability special discounts would show much larger savings but were excluded. The survey was undertaken during the week commencing 9th February 2009.
The Project Management & IT Service Management basket showed a saving of 20.3%.
The IT technical basket of courses showed a saving of 27.1%.
There were 10 courses in each group.
